Upcoming Events: CEC, Flock, and DevConf.cz
May 31, 2025
In the coming couple of weeks I’ll be heading to the Common Europe Congress (CEC2025), Flock 2025, and DevConf.cz 2025, some of the best community-driven events in the ecosystem. If you’re around, let’s catch up and share stories over coffee!
Common Europe Congress 2025 (Gothenburg, June 2–4)
The Common Europe Congress is the largest educational convention for IBM Power users in Europe. This year it’s taking place at the Gothia Towers in Gothenburg, Sweden. I’ll be there from June 2nd through the 4th, and I have two sessions lined up:
Automating Power Virtual Servers with Ansible and AAP (Workshop) I will have the honor of presenting this session with Geoffrey Pascal, a person with who I already presented a few sessions over the years! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll dive into using Ansible to provision and manage Power Virtual Servers. Even if you haven’t touched Ansible before, by the end of the session you’ll have a templated Ansible framework and the knowledge to adapt it to your own environment.
Leverage Event-Driven Ansible to Reduce Your Automation Reaction Time (Talk) Event-Driven Ansible is a powerful new feature that lets you trigger playbooks based on events in your infrastructure—think “instant response” automation. In this session, I’ll explain how Ansible’s event-driven works and how to make it work for your needs, so that tasks run automatically the moment an issue is detected. Expect both theory and examples to kickstart your Event-Driven Automation.
CEC is always a great mix of in-depth technical sessions and hallway conversations. If you work with IBM Power or AIX—and especially if you’re curious about bringing Ansible into that space—drop by my sessions or flag me down in the corridors.
Flock 2025 (Prague, June 5–8)
Flock is the Fedora Project’s annual contributor conference, and this year it’s at the Vienna House by Wyndham Andel’s Prague (Stroupežnického 21, Prague). I’ll be presenting two sessions there:
FESCO Q&A (Interactive Q&A) Join the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) members as we introduce ourselves, share plans for the next year, and answer your questions.
Workshop: Packaging Session (Workshop) This session combines a workshop and presentation on modern packaging practices and tools for Python, Go, and Rust ecosystems. We’ll discuss new features, upcoming changes, and provide hands-on experience.
Flock is all about community. If you’re around Prague during those days, swing by my sessions or find me in the hallway. I’ll also be roaming the “hallway track” looking for anyone who wants to chat or just grab a coffee and catch up.
DevConf.cz 2025 (Brno, June 12–14)
Finally, I’ll be in Brno for DevConf.CZ 2025, an annual, free, Red Hat-sponsored technology conference for users, operators, administrators, and contributors to Free and Open Source technologies.
I’m involved in two sessions:
Simplifying Container Orchestration with Ansible and Podman (Talk) We’ll explore an alternative approach to container orchestration that leverages Ansible’s automation capabilities and Podman’s container manager, providing a simpler and more secure way to run containers.
Ansible Automation for Work and for Fun (Meetup) Ansible’s flexibility allows for a variety of uses beyond traditional DevOps workflows. This session invites the community to share and learn about creative ways to use Ansible in both professional and personal contexts.
DevConf.cz is known for its friendly community vibe and practical talks. If you’re attending, come to my talk on June 13th, or find me at the meetup on the same day.
If you’ll be at any of these events, don’t hesitate to say hi!
